The ResurFX is Lumenis' proprietary fractional non-ablative laser platform, operating at a 1565 nm wavelength in the near-infrared spectrum. Aesthetic Club Berlin uses this device for comprehensive skin resurfacing — addressing surface texture irregularities, acne scarring, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and early photoaging — without the significant downtime associated with fully ablative CO₂ or Er:YAG resurfacing. Fractional laser resurfacing works on the principle of selective photothermolysis applied in a pixelated pattern. Rather than treating the entire skin surface uniformly, the laser creates thousands of microscopic treatment columns — known as micro-thermal zones (MTZs) — spaced across the treatment area. Each MTZ is a narrow column of thermally altered tissue extending from the epidermis into the mid-dermis, surrounded by unaffected skin. This fractional approach allows the unaffected tissue between columns to serve as a reservoir for rapid re-epithelialisation, dramatically accelerating recovery compared to fully ablative methods. Within each micro-thermal zone, the 1565 nm energy is absorbed by water in the tissue, creating controlled coagulation that denatures proteins, disrupts dysfunctional collagen networks, and initiates a wound-healing response. Over the following weeks, fibroblasts invade the treated columns, synthesising new type I collagen and elastin. The result is progressively smoother skin texture, reduced depth of scars and wrinkles, and improved dermal architecture over a 3 to 6 month remodelling period. At Aesthetic Club Berlin, a ResurFX session takes approximately 45 minutes including topical anaesthetic preparation. Patients experience a warm, snapping sensation during treatment. Post-treatment redness resembling moderate sunburn typically resolves within 48 to 72 hours. Three to five sessions at monthly intervals are usually recommended for optimal scar revision or significant photorejuvenation results.
