Comprehensive blood test to screen for autoantibodies indicating increased risk of developing type 1 diabetes.

Additional Information

This test screens for four autoantibodies linked to a higher risk of developing type 1 diabetes (T1D). Many people with T1D don't have a family history, but those with a relative diagnosed are at significantly higher risk. Early detection allows for potential delay of disease onset with new treatments, reduced symptom severity, and fewer long-term complications. The test measures insulin autoantibody (IAA), tyrosine phosphatase IA2, glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD65), and zinc transporter 8 (ZnT8) levels.

Biomarkers Tested (4)

Insulin (µU/mL)
Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that helps regulate blood sugar levels. Abnormal levels can indicate diabetes or insulin resistance.
pH
Imbalances in gut pH influence short-chain fatty acid production and their effects.
Glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD65) (AU/mL)
Autoantibodies to an enzyme in pancreatic beta cells; often develop first in children ages 3-5.
Zinc (µg/dL)
Zinc is a trace element crucial for immune function, wound healing, and DNA synthesis. Low levels can lead to impaired immunity and delayed wound healing.
