Intestinal Permeability (Leaky Gut) Check
Urine test to assess intestinal permeability.
Urine test to assess intestinal permeability.
Additional Information
This test measures levels of lactulose and mannitol, which are synthetic sugars. Lactulose is a large molecule, and only small amounts should be absorbed by the gut and excreted in the urine. Mannitol is a small molecule, readily absorbed and excreted. A high ratio of lactulose to mannitol indicates increased intestinal permeability ('leaky gut'). This test helps identify gut lining damage, which can lead to inflammation and other health issues. It's useful for those experiencing digestive problems or autoimmune conditions.
