Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) (mIU/L)

Communicates with the thyroid gland to produce T3 and T4, regulating metabolic functions. High levels indicate hypothyroidism, low levels hyperthyroidism.

Free thyroxine (FT4) (pmol/L)

Measures freely circulating thyroxine regulating metabolism. High levels indicate hyperthyroidism, low levels hypothyroidism.

Free triiodothyronine (FT3) (pmol/L)

Measures freely circulating triiodothyronine. High levels indicate hyperthyroidism, low levels hypothyroidism.

Reverse triiodothyronine (rT3) (pmol/L)

Inactive form of T3; high levels can block T3 action, causing hypothyroid symptoms.

FT3 to Reverse T3 Ratio (Ratio)

Higher ratio indicates efficient T4 conversion to active T3 and less conversion to rT3.

Thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPOAb) (IU/mL)

Antibodies against thyroid peroxidase, an enzyme in T4-to-T3 conversion and synthesis; positive results may indicate Hashimoto's disease.

Thyroglobulin antibodies (TGAb) (IU/mL)

Antibodies against thyroglobulin; positive results may indicate Hashimoto's or Graves' disease.

Thyroid-stimulating immunoglobulin (TSI)/Thyroid receptor antibodies (TRAb) (IU/L)

High levels of TSI can indicate Graves' disease.
