Alpha-Gal blood test measuring IgE antibodies to alpha-Gal and 3 red meat allergens to determine alpha-Gal Syndrome or red meat allergy.
Additional Information
This alpha-Gal panel measures immune responses to alpha-Gal and 3 meats (beef, lamb, pork) that commonly trigger alpha-Gal-associated meat allergy. It's also called tick-bite meat allergy because it typically starts when a tick transmits alpha-Gal, a sugar molecule in mammals. This triggers an immune response, causing reactions after red meat consumption. The test helps identify potential alpha-Gal allergy. A healthcare provider will review results with your medical history to diagnose and prescribe treatment if needed.
