Additional Information

This test measures alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and platelet levels. These, along with your age, determine your risk for advanced liver fibrosis. A FIB4 Index ≥1.30 triggers a free Enhanced Liver Fibrosis test on your existing sample. Early diagnosis allows for treatment to reverse or slow disease progression, preventing NASH, fibrosis, and cirrhosis.

ALT (U/L)

Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) is an enzyme mainly produced by the liver. A good indicator of liver damage caused by alcohol, drugs or hepatitis.

AST (U/L)

Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) is an enzyme created mainly by the liver and the heart. High levels can indicate damage to your liver caused by alcohol, drugs or hepatitis.

Platelets (PLT) (/µL)

Blood cells involved in blood clotting.

FIB-4 Index (Score)

Calculated score based on ALT, AST, platelet levels, and age; indicates risk of advanced liver fibrosis.

Enhanced Liver Fibrosis (ELF) score (Score)

Calculated score based on hyaluronic acid (HA), Type III procollagen peptide (PIIINP), and tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase 1 (TIMP-1) levels; further assesses fibrosis severity if FIB-4 is high.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) (µg/mL)

Marker of liver fibrosis; elevated levels suggest increased fibrosis.

Type III procollagen peptide (PIIINP) (ng/mL)

Marker of collagen synthesis; elevated levels suggest increased fibrosis.
